Volume whispers on engulfing days

Engulfing candles without participation often fade. How we fold volume into pattern study without turning it into a separate course.

Engulfing patterns look clean on a price pane. Add volume, and some of them go quiet. During chart reviews we overlay a simple participation check — not a full volume-profile curriculum.

Relative volume

Compare the engulfing bar’s volume to the twenty-bar average. A bullish engulf that prints on half-average volume into resistance often lacks follow-through the next session.

Closing location inside the bar

Where price finishes inside the engulfing candle still matters. A close near the high of a bullish engulf with rising volume is a different story from a mid-body close on a busy tape.

Keep the hierarchy

We still teach price structure first. Volume is a confirming whisper, not a veto that overrides location. Mentorship clients who chase volume spikes alone tend to overtrade lunchtime noise.

For deeper practice, the private programme pairs volume notes with your own instrument’s typical session rhythm.
